Izumi had been upset at the single-person turnout for the previous sermon. But, really, was it necessary for Angel to fly around and invite all the zombies?

"...What?" For once, the Prince of Darkness seemed legitimately stunned.

Takumi held out the magic stone insistently. "C'mon, we're going after the same guy!"

"And what makes you think I would give up my seat of command to follow you?"

The Demon Buster was silent for a moment. "All right. I'll come back when I can clear a gold dungeon or something."

With that, he stuffed the failed bribe back in his pocket and walked away.

Shura was in the doorway to the dorms, arms folded leisurely, and staring at him with an amused smirk.

"...What?"

Her smirk deepened, but she said nothing and stepped away to let him through.

"Odd, isn't it?" Metatron asked, looking up at the Mall's ceiling as if it held answers.

"You mean how its behavior seems so familiar?" Gabriel said, following his gaze with a knowing smile.

"...Too familiar."

They would certainly have a lot to discuss.

The little Manikin child was cute, absolutely adorable.

...He also had an obvious case of the flu, and refused to come into the clinic because he was at the front desk.

Virtue hid his teary face behind the computer monitor. What would it take to atone?

Shura stood on her toes to see the healing wing joint, Metatron kneeling before her. For the Grand General of Hell looking at the Voice of God's injury, her concern seemed oddly...genuine.

Second in command

This fight had to happen one day, he knew. After all, they were both merely second in command to sworn enemies.

But he would ensure his attacks would miss, and he trusted her to do the same.

Shura glared at him. Metatron wasn't sure what he'd said wrong.

Shura could listen to Masahiro talk about his trip to the moon all day. Not only because it was interesting, of course, but you just can't beat a constant supply of free, fresh bread.

Gabriel couldn't respond to the question that had come out of the blue like that. She hadn't intended to sneak up on this demi-fiend, but...

"I...suppose..."

"That is not what I meant by heavenly music..." Dominion muttered quietly, laying his head on the table to block the eerie sight of winged, halo-adorned guitars self-playing some obnoxious rock tune.

Try to make friends, strike up conversation, Izumi had suggested. Maybe one of the Minatos. She hadn't warned him of this one...

He hadn't spilled blood since deserting Yosuga, and just the thought of blood on his hands, literally or otherwise, made him ill.

But somehow...this was different. Virtue turned from the now-dead Ongyo-ki to meet the gaze of the one it had attacked.

For a tense moment, Manikin prophet and ex-Yosuga angel measured each other's intent.

Then, Futomimi smiled.
