Kill stealing

So, flist, tell me this:

You're heading back towards Arcadia after killing your targets. You've got an Odin next to you so there's no way you need Blobs for your quest.

There's a Blob with very low health moving towards a player with full health. Okay, maybe the other player hasn't loaded yet so you can't see he's countering.

But still. Demon with low health + nearby player = they're fighting, right? What could possess someone to take away that last chunk of HP (and the kill credit)?

And I wasn't at low health myself so I clearly didn't need any "help".

What the fuck is wrong with people?

Dicks just being dicks, mostly. Kill stealing pretty rampant back when I played Ragnarok Online.

One time I got KOd on Imagine and this guy came over. I thought, "How nice but there's no need to bother reviving! I'll just respawn to last saved point, exp loss or no." Turns out he was just came over to laugh at me. That was just one time out of many, though.

That's kind of strange. The one thing I can say most players aren't jerks about is providing resurrection, given that it's fairly easy to put Recarm in a fusion line and revival items are cheap. It's one of the few things I'm proud to be part of the game for.

(Also around level 30 on you're going to want to have someone/thing else revive you because the XP loss is...not fun at that point.)

I've only personally seen two instances of kill stealing in the...how long have I been playing this game?

And a friend of mine has encountered a couple herself, but it seems fairly rare if the demon in question isn't a common XP mine.

It's just that this one was so pointless. I wasn't in a group of enemies where others were training their expertise, I wasn't at low health or even in the process of being hit, and the demon would not give out even a hundredth of the percent of XP this player would have needed for the next level.

Being a jerk.

Years ago I was in a MUD where a person was asking for help in a battle. I helped them beat the monsters they were fighting and they promptly turned around and attacked/killed me.

Then started crying about how they were bad people and they were going to leave because they were so bad. So the mod took the murderer status (What you got for killing a PC) off their list.

They're just being a jerk.

...huh? So he willingly became a murderer and then cried about it to get exonerated?

Either that mod is a flake (me in disguise? XD) or just...irresponsible.

Yeah, she pulled that stuff all the time. She was a walking attention whore of the 10th power. The stuff I could tell you.

But yeah, generally people who pull stunts like that are just being jerks.

Though I've had my Jack out and been killed by slimes because of LAG... He killed my Jack...
