So, this (disturbing imagery warning!) is the first time I've actually recorded the content of one of Mastema's dreams rather than a generic "he's reliving the final battle" or just giving the end result (wakes up crying, hallucinates Zelenin's blood on his hands after waking, etc.).

Granted, his subconscious was "inspired" by his encounter with Minato this time, but I get the feeling something like this is a recurring theme. I know Zelenin showing up with missing, bleeding, or otherwise damaged eyes has been a constant theme.

Something that threw me off in this particular dream was the significance of Zelenin remarking his heart "fit her hand well". I was misled by his attraction to her, I'd thought while I was typing it this showed his desire for a romantic or physical relationship with her, and she'd reject him on the grounds of his selfish ambitions.

Granted, that is almost exactly what the imagery looks like on the surface, and could possibly still be taken for. But what it really reflects is his desire to share something vital with her: the scope of Law's plan, his own personal ambitions, and his selfish thoughts on humanity. The violent, painful rejection of his heart is, of course, his fear that she'll hurt him in return, that he'll alienate her from him. He's afraid of betrayal already, but this would hurt deeply, in particular, being why it was linked to the real-world pain of his nails breaking skin as well as why it's the only source of pain to not be dulled.

Also I want to say the idea of losing a lot of blood from a point that is known to have a major artery already is significant to that too and not just accompanying the pain. But I'm not sure.

Anyway, DR peeps, helping him would be nice. Expect chat spam when I get back from class, too.
