"I've made up my mind, you know," said Naoto, looking at the Western formal dresses behind her.
Satake didn't have to give another look to the kimonos and traditional accessories in the store behind him. He knew it was all about her decisions.
He was also stubborn. "Wish you'd reconsider it, Naoto."
"That would entail explanations for the groom and our families."
Satake paused a moment, then shook his head and walked across the hall to join her. She had him there, much as he hated to admit it. Introducing him, with law on both sides of this marriage, could only hurt Naoto. He wouldn't inflict that on her.

But sleep...even if he had nightmares, and those were plenty, Armaros would still sleep.
His child had gone deeper to fish. The Water Nephilim had attracted a bit too much attention from local fishermen, and all it would take was one jumpy man to hurt the poor thing, or condemn it to death by mob if there was influence enough. Meals consisted of the deeper dwellers, then, caught in the Nephilim's tentacles and held until the beach was deserted so they could be cooked.
Armaros curled up in a ray of sunlight filtered through the surface, the play of light on his face relaxing and evocative of more than a little longing.
As much as he feared eternal imprisonment, he missed Enoch. Was he even still alive? He shouldn't have been to meet him in the tower, come to think of it, but...he wasn't sure what to think, and if he was found, he might learn something.
Eventually, these thoughts faded into dream. It was a common one. What if he'd reacted more quickly? What if he'd been there to grab Enoch's hand and keep him from jumping into The Darkness?
Sometimes, Enoch clung to him for dear life. Sometimes, he hadn't gotten a grip on him at all and Enoch slipped through his fingers like a ghost. Sometimes, Enoch struggled out of his grasp to fall anyway. The child needed him.
At least that one pure soul had managed to escape The Darkness by using the girl as a vessel. She had belonged in that awful place as much as Enoch had.
And it was on this half-dreaming thought that Armaros realized there was something pressing on him, back and front. For a moment, all he could think of was the claustrophobic, motionless existence as a slave to his hulking Dark form, nothing more than a heart to the vileness's brain.
And then he heard human voices, and the panic faded as the sensations registered as rope on his back and several somethings - fish, he recognized the feel and the smell as his senses withdrew from the waking nightmare – pressing against him in front.
He was caught in a fishing net.
Something tugged lightly on his tail. This time, he heard the fisherman clearly. "Looks like a devil's tail to me."
"The rest of him looks like a man, though, look at him. And that's not where tails go, brother. Does your dog have a tail on its back?"
"Well that makes it even more unnatural," said the first. He jerked more sharply on his tail, and Armaros let out a loud wail as pain raced through his shoulders and back.
The pressure on his tail abruptly ceased.
"That's not the sound a man makes," said the first one. "Still think it's not a devil?"
Not anymore, Armaros thought, finally catching a glimpse of the edge of the boat from the net between the suffocating fish blocking his view. He wasn't too far, he could escape!
He ducked into space like water, surging forward in the depths of nothingness, and found himself plunged into the ocean once again.
The Water Nephilim's tentacles wrapped around his waist and pulled him close to its translucent body as it dived with him, making low, musical tones in its concern.
Armaros sighed quietly and rested his head against his child' body. With any luck, those fishermen wouldn't be believed.

Cover Up (warning: may fail)
Armaros turned, pulling the sleeves of his jacket around his shoulders. Dassah wasn't making a move for her clothes, wrapped up in the sheets instead. The air was chilly, Armaros's floor being what it was, but naturally the fallen angel never paid it any mind. He looked at his lover quizzically.
"You never wear a shirt beneath that."
Armaros gave a humorous smile and teleported to the bedside with a splash of empty space, standing as tall as he could. He pointed a thumb at his chest and raised his eyebrow at her. She really wanted him to cover this up?
Dassah laughed. "Is that the only reason you dress like that?"
Armaros shook his head, shrugged. It got a good reaction from the audience, it was comfortable, and he thought it looked good. Wasn't that enough? He reached down to pick up Dassah's clothes and offered them to her.
She gave another of those almost-musical laughs. "And now you want me to cover up? Hypocrite." She pushed the covers aside so she could lean forward and kiss him on the cheek.
And shivered. "On second thought…" While Armaros's shoulders shook with silent laughter, she took the clothes from him, playfully smacking his arm with her dress before she put it on. "Okay, I'm only human."
